Nov 23, 2020–As seats are sold out for the Symphony of the Hills opening concert, the board is offering a live stream of the 8:30 p.m. Ode To Joy concert on December 3 as a gift to the community.
“This online concert is our gift to the community that has supported us over the past 20 years,” said a spokesperson. “It will be a way for people who are not able to get out in public yet to enjoy the show, while also introducing new audience members to the orchestra.”
The online stream can be accessed by visiting www.symphonyofthehills.org and following the link posted there. The concert is free to the public, although donations are encouraged via the link provided. Currently this free stream is a one-time offering, and will be available as a live concert only, with no access for later viewing.
The musical program for Ode To Joy is a celebration of holidays around the world. It features A Christmas Festival, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Prokofiev’s Troika from Lt. Kije Suite, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24. Guests will also hear Scherzo and Ode to Joy from Symphony No. 9, a tribute to the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth.
Following mitigation guidelines, a reduced-size orchestra is presenting two concerts at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. in order to allow limited and safely distanced seating. The auditorium will be sanitized between concerts. Plexiglass barriers and extra ventilation will be in place. Masks are required, and there is no wine reception before this concert.
These guidelines will be followed and adjusted for upcoming concerts:
- January 9, 2021–POPS The American Songbook
- February 25, 2021–Homecoming
- April 29, 2021–The Majesty of Brahms
Tickets and information are available at www.symphonyofthehills.org, by calling (830) 792-7469, or via email at info@symphonyofthehills.org.
