Former Symphony of the Hills violinist and now international soloist Nancy Zhou will perform for Homecoming, August 26, at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville.

June 28, 2021–The Symphony of the Hills will welcome internationally-acclaimed concert violinist Nancy Zhou for its Homecoming concert, set for August 26, 2021, at the Cailloux Theater in Kerrville, Texas.

Zhou is a former Symphony of the Hills violinist and soloist who has gone on to become a multi-award-winning international concert artist.

“Nancy Zhou truly is one of the stars of today’s violin world,” said Dr. Eugene Dowdy, Conductor and Artistic Director. “During her early years, Nancy performed solos and played with the Symphony of the Hills, including several times with her father, concertmaster Long Zhou. Nancy returns to Kerrville as a musical homecoming to play one of the great works of the 20th century, the violin concerto of Samuel Barber.”

The music program will also feature William Grant Still’s Poem for orchestra, followed by Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, which was performed during the Symphony’s first season 20 years ago. Because the Symphony and Cailloux Theater have reinstated full seating and returned to a single concert format, the orchestra will perform the entire piece, rather than just the first movement.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a Wine Reception at 6:30 p.m.

This concert, originally scheduled for February as part of the 2020-2021 season, was moved to August in order to allow a larger audience to attend.

All tickets already purchased for the February concerts will be honored at the August concert. Season ticket holders will be seated in their original seats. Those who purchased single concert tickets will be seated in their original seats or in the closest seats within the price category. All tickets will be reissued.

Any remaining seats can be purchased by visiting www.symphonyofthehills.org, or by calling (830) 792-7469. Tickets can also be purchased through the Cailloux Theater web site: caillouxperformingarts.com.

“We are so pleased we will be able to present this concert, especially after a year filled with uncertainty for artists and musicians,” Dowdy said. “Nancy Zhou has built a stellar career, and her roots with Symphony of the Hills make this even more of a special occasion. It promises to be an emotional evening of moving music.”

This concert is sponsored by Kerr County Abstract & Title, and RE/MAX Kerrville.

Information on Patron and Season ticketing for the 2021-2022 season will be released by the beginning of August.
