Jan 27, 2021–In its desire to provide a safe season of symphonic music, the Board of Directors of Symphony of the Hills has decided to reschedule the Homecoming concert, originally set for Feb 25, 2021.
According to Dr. Tim Summerlin, President, this decision is in response to the positive presence of the virus in the community, including among key orchestra personnel. There is no link to any performance activity, but the situation would disrupt the upcoming rehearsal schedule.
“We planned and launched a shortened season and produced two remarkable concerts,” Summerlin said. “From the start we committed to following all health protocols to protect audience and performers, because our goal was indeed a safe season of symphonic music. We are working on plans to reschedule this concert. As soon as we can, we will announce the outcome of these efforts.”
Featured soloist for the concert, Nancy Zhou, an internationally-known violinist who once performed with the Symphony of the Hills, has committed to return at a later date when it is arranged.
At this point, the April 29 concert, The Majesty of Brahms, is still planned. Details on any changes in scheduling and ticketing will be updated when available.
